Namibia: Family Has a Close Shave After a Car Rams Into Home

Oshakati — A family in Oshoopala informal settlement of Oshakati escaped death or serious injury after a vehicle crashed into their home during the early hours of the morning last week.

Two cars collided and one of the vehicles, an Audi A4, spiralled into the residential area ramming through the house's walls before coming to a standstill near a corrugated-iron home.

One of the house occupants, a woman who did not want to be named, said she went into a trance-like state after seeing the wreckage of the sedan meters from her home, protruding through a wall.

"I heard a thunderous noise like an explosion. I went outside because I thought there was an explosion at my neighbour's house. If it were not for the brick wall which held the vehicle back, my family would be dead," she said. "When I got out of the house, I was shocked to see the red sedan," she said.

The stay-at-home mother said she was scared for her family who were in the house. "I thought it would explode, like in the movies," she said.

It is suspected that the Audi was being driven from Etango complex to Okatana location when it collided with another vehicle, a Camry.
