Nigeria: Anambra Schools to Get N1 Billion More

The Anambra State government will disburse an additional N1 billion to schools recently returned to their original owners.

Governor Obi, who disclosed this while addressing the second session of the 19th synod of Awka diocese in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, said government is determined to rebuild and reposition the schools to effectively serve the education needs of the people.

He added that a law is being put in place to ensure that the schools continue to receive government grants for the next 10years to make up for the gross neglect they suffered since government's forceful take over after the civil war.

He pledged to support the hospital project of the diocese at Awba-Ofemili, and commended the church's commitment to health and education.

Responding, the Anglican Bishop of Awka, Rt. Rev. Alex Ibezim, noted that Governor Obi's stewardship is impacting positively on the lives of the people, assuring that the church would continue to support him with prayers.
