Rwanda: Burera Residents Urged to Consolidate Lands

The District Mayor of Burera has asked local leaders to sensitise residents to consolidate their lands at once for better agricultural produce.

Samuel Sembagare asserts that land consolidation in Burera is being done in some parts when the program is for all.

"I request that land consolidation be done on swampy areas and hills, so that one crop is grown," adds Sembagare.

Sembagare asks Burera agronomists to encourage farmers to grow the cash crops chosen for the district.

Other crops are not forbidden to be grown in this district but the ones chosen grow better than others. This will enable residents get enough food for consumption and for the market, explains Sembagare

The cash crops selected for Burera district in CIP government program are Irish potatoes, maize, beans and wheat.
