Gambia: WANEP Spearheads Grassroots Democracy Campaign in URR

Basse, Urr — The West Africa Network for Peace-Building (WANEP) - Gambia Wednesday organised a day-long consultative meeting for stakeholders in the Upper River Region (URR)?as part of its new project, which is designed to promote grassroots democracy and decentralisation.

The forum that brought together chiefs and women councilors, amongst others, was also meant to sound the opinions of all stakeholders on the local government and decentralisation process in the region, among other things. The project, which is funded by the Australian Agency for International Development is targeting North Bank Region and Upper River Region.
