Angola: New Bank Notes With More Security Features

Luanda — The new Kwanza bank notes and metallic coins of the 2012 series will bear different features from the current ones, particularly micro-texts and marks visible when exposed to violet light, Angop learned Tuesday in Luanda.

The information is part of the Law that authorises the Angola Reserve Bank (BNA) to issue the bills approves Tuesday by the National Assembly (Parliament), stating more security reasons.

According to the source, the note paper will bear a watermark depicting the figure of the "thinker", a symbol of the national culture.

Among other features, the bill will also bear two lightly overlapped effigies of the late founder of the Nation, António Agostinho Neto and the incumbent head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.

The new bank notes and metallic coins will be released early next year.
