Kenya: Ministry Disburses Sh4.2 Billion for Roads

The Ministry of Roads has released Sh4.2 billion to all 210 constituencies as part of the Sh6.3 billion allocations to help rehabilitate damaged rural access roads.

Roads minister Franklin Bett said the disbursements amounted to Sh20 million per constituency and that it was upon the constituency roads committees to ensure that all roads in the rural areas within their jurisdictions are immediately tendered for repairs. The minister asked roads engineers to ensure that work on the roads was properly supervised to avoid shoddy work as such would amount to public fraud. He said that the Sh10 million balance would be released later in the year.
