Nigeria: Fayemi Urged to Ignore PDP Tirade

Following the recent verbal attacks by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the administration of the governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti Elders' Forum (EEF) has charged the governor not to allow the criticisms to derail him.

The elders were apparently reacting to a comment made by the PDP Chairman in the state, Mr Makanjuola Ogundipe, on Monday where he alleged that Fayemi had squandered over N200 billion on frivolities since assumption of office 20 months ago.

The elders, who gave the advice in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Adegoroye Olayisade, and made available to journalists in the state, cautioned the citizens of the state against making inflammatory comments that can heat up the polity and distract the governor's good intentions to develop Ekiti.

According to the statement, Ekiti had suffered very much in the past and that the time for the masses to feel the dividends of democracy is now and not the time to play dirty politics, as experienced in the past.
