Liberia: Tom Kamara Finally Laid to Rest

The remains of the Publisher of the New Democrat Newspaper, Mr. Tom Kamara, was on Saturday, June 23, 2012 laid to rest.

Following a night of wake keeping on Friday, June 22, 2012, the body of Mr. Kamara was then taken to the St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Bardnersville for a funeral service the next morning (Saturday).

Immediately following the funeral service, the remains of the veteran Liberian journalist and great writer was interred at the Kaiser Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Brewerville, outside Monrovia.

Mr. Kamara, who was also the Managing Editor of the New Democrat Newspaper, died on June 8, 2012 while undergoing medical treatment at the St. Luc Hospital in Brussels, Belgium, following a brief illness.

As a mark of reference to the late Managing Editor, the New Democrat Newspaper suspended its publication on Friday, June 22, 2012.

Meanwhile, the interment and funeral Ceremonies of the late Kamara were attended by officials of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), media executives as well as top government officials, relatives and friends of the deceased.
