Eritrea: Andelai - Considerable Accomplishment Made As Regards Control of Communicable Diseases

Hagaz — The Administration of Ashera Administrative area, Hagaz sub-zone, said that considerable accomplishment has been made as regards control of communicable diseases in Andelai village in line with increased practice of environmental hygiene.

Mr. Gergis Abraham, Administrator of the locality, and Ms. Rozina Eyob, head of the health station in Ashera, commended the inhabitants of Andelai for demonstrating active participation in endeavors to ensure environmental hygiene. Infections resulting from communicable diseases have dropped by 50% in the area, Ms. Rozina said.

Mr. Idris Mohammed, Administrator of Hagaz sub-zone, and Mr. Zecarias Ogbasilasie, head of administration and finance in the Health Ministry's branch in Anseba region, pointed out that a healthy environment is the basis for safeguarding community health.

Father Adhanom Debesai commended the Government's commitment in extending social service facilities in remote areas, and called on the local inhabitants to reinforce participation in promoting community health and the national development programs in general.

Among the local inhabitants, Mr. Raka Ogbasilasie, Ms. Yirgalem Aregai and Ms. Worku Redie asserted that they applied an exemplary technique in building toilets, and that community health representatives played significant role in the process.

Andelai village is inhabited more than 300 people.
