Kenya: Fire At Lonrho House Sends Workers Scampering for Safety

WORKERS at the Lornho House were evacuated after a fire broke out on one of the floors in the multi-storey building yesterday. The midday incident left sent many people including shoppers scampering for their safety and sitting away from their offices for more than three hours as fire fighters from the City Council of Nairobi battled to contain the blaze.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started on the mezzanine floor, which is used as a bakery for Pasara restaurant."I was shopping for some clothes at Milan men's ware stores situated on ground floor. The lights came on and we heard a loud explosion and when we run out I saw smoke billowing from one of the floors," said Jackson Kamau.
