Rwanda: Electricity Energy Extends to 631 Remote Homes

In order to promote development in remote areas, roads, water and electricity energy have been extended to 631 homes located in remote areas in Nyabihu district.

To bring fast development and enhance job creation among residents, 14 new sites have been constructed to distribute electricity energy to different parts of the villages.

From July 2011 to June 2012, 631 homes in remote areas of Nyabihu, two schools and a healthy centre in Kabatwa sector have got electricity as Doris Melchiade; in charge of infrastructure in this place revealed on June 25th 2012.

Fourteen transformers were built in the villages and residents access electricity with ease and this has been a big step towards creating jobs especially setting up hair dressing saloons and milling machines.

Electricity also came as an answer to wheat growers in this place since we now have wheat cleaning machine and other machines for agricultural produce, farmers say.

The purpose of extending roads, water and electricity to these areas was to uplift residents from poverty through job creation.
