Rwanda: Residents Expect Huge Profit From Coffee Produce

Gatsibo District residents are happy with the step they have already taken in planting coffee and for the produce they get from it, a reason for their hope to benefit more.

Mukura sector has coffee farmers who are in 2 cooperatives of COPECEMU and KOKAHU and about more than one million coffee plantations and they are planning on expanding by planting about 800.000 coffee plants that will be planted on 320 hectares of land.

Farmers say that planting coffee is easy for them as they even have 4 factories that process their produce of about 1860 tons of unripe coffee that they sell at 200frw per KG.

In this sector, one farmer can at least harvest about 10 tons of unripe coffee and some are planting more after understanding the importance of coffee and one of these is Pierre Claver Higiro who planted more 7500 more coffee plants.

Farmers are positive that with more produce, more money will be coming to their sector and they will develop their social welfare, their neighbours and the country in general since they are in hilly area where and the land in conducive for coffee, they say the sky is the limit.
