The executive secretary of Rubaya sector in Gicumbi District Jerome Ngendabanga has said that family conflict and misunderstanding between each other is the main cause of separation and divorce in many Rwandan families.

"Today we get to know of cases where men or women are killing their spouses because of these family conflicts which usually result from unpleasant behaviours like cheating, drunkenness and misuse of family properties." Jerome Ngendabanga was quoted to say.

Many women and men are caught ready handed in hotels cheating on their spouses and these are very much seen in families where the couple live together but did not get married lawfully.

Ngendabanga said that though there is still Gender Based Violence done in Rwandan societies, the number has significantly reduced compared to the last years and Rubaya sector has made resolutions to sensitize people to stop such violent acts and for those living together unlawfully, to get married according to the law so as to avoid such conflicts that can be fatal.

They are going to also sensitize about the dangers of family conflicts and in cases of such fatal accidents, the other partner is imprisoned for life and the family is destroyed especially children who get to lose a parent killed by the other who spends life in prison, it mostly affects children.
