Angola/Cuba Relations Excellent - Alarcon

Luanda — The Cuban National Assembly speaker, Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada, considered "excellent" the relations between the Parliaments of Angola and Cuba, including those between the two states.

Ricardo de Quesada was speaking to journalists on arrival in Luanda on Thursday for a four-day official visit to Angola.

"The relations between our parliaments are excellent, we have always supported each other in the various international parliamentary meetings,...we have signed various accords and this time we are going to sign one cooperation protocol," said Alarcon.

According to the Cuban official, his visit to Angola follows an invitation made in November 2011, by the Angolan National Assembly speaker, António Paulo Kassoma, during a trip to his country.

On the occasion, Ricardo Alarcon expressed satisfaction with the development Angola has recorded over the last few years.

"I used to come here very often more than 20 years ago. Now I can see Angola is a fully free and prosperous country," he stated.

During his stay in Angola, the Cuban Parliament speaker will meet with the ministers of Education, Mpinda Simão, Industry, Joaquim David, and deliver a lecture on "Cuba: options and perspectives".

He will also lay a wreath by the monument of the Angolan first and late president, António Agostinho Neto.

The programme includes a courtesy visit to the Luanda Government, to the Oil Company (SONANGOL) logistics base (SONILS), to the Viana Special Economic Zone, to the Kilamba city and to Kifangondo Battle memorial.
