Namibia: Very Capable Athletes

Earlier this month, disabled basketball players competed in the annual National Disability Day at the Khomasdal Stadium. The well-attended event brought together people from all corners of the country living with disabilities to celebrate the day under the slogan "Nothing about us, without us."

Organised by the National Disability Council, the event showed the world that they are fully capable.

People living with disability came from as far as the Oshana Region to participate in the event which started in the early morning hours and went throughout the day and the next day.

After a heartwarming opening remark by the council's management and the Member of Parliament and NDCN chairperson, Alexia Ncube, the event gave people living with disability the platform to entertain the crowd with live singing and dance performances. Thereafter spectators witnessed the true agility of disabled athletes as two very able basketball teams battled it out on the court.

The visiting Oshana wheelchair basketball team defeated the Khomas wheelchair basketball team in a friendly match . The team from the North ended the match as victors.
