Liberia: BWIAA Celebrates 83rd Anniversary

As the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) in Kakata, Margibi County celebrates its 83rd Anniversary; the Alumni Association (AA) of the institution is requesting government to ensure that the dream of the institution comes through. The call was made by Mr. Joseph S. Morris, Chairman of the Anniversary Committee recently in an interview with members of the Association at the end of their convention held on the main campus ahead of the 83 anniversary.

During the convention, the Association adopted a resolution in support of the administration's quest for Liberia's oldest technical institution to be uplifted to a tech college. The Association also noted that while it is true that BWI be given a technical college status, it is also prudent that BWI be brought to its pre war status which will include the construction of new structures, vocational building and at the same time renovating its old facilities.

They also suggested that instructional staff be given the opportunity to advance themselves through scholarship schemes in order to return home prepared and provide technical college knowledge. The resolution is expected to be adopted on Saturday, during the 83rd anniversary celebration.
