Nigeria Wins Africa Athletics Championship

Nigeria yesterday emerged overall winners of the 18th edition of the African Senior Athletics Championship. The Team Nigeria contingent defeated defending champions, Kenya and South Africa to second and third positions respectively to win the one week long championship held in Porto Novo, Benin Republic.

To emerge winners and dethrone Kenya, Nigeria won 10 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals to become the new African Champions. Kenya trailed with 9 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze while South Africa which came third had 6 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze.
