Luanda — Angola has been following up with particular attention and interest, the efforts showed by the Cuban authorities to solve the several problems in the island nation, in a context of global financial and economic crisis, aggravated by the unfair and inhuman economic embargo, lasting for more than five decades, said the first vice speaker of the National Assembly.
João Lourenço was speaking Friday in Luanda at the opening of an official talks between the Parliamentary delegations of Angola and Cuba, held in Launda.
"We reiterate our support and solidarity with the Republic of Cuba in defence of their legitimate interests and on respect for international law and defend the lifting of the embargo," said the MP.
João Lourenço leads the Angolan delegation to the talks, while the Cuban Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada of Assembly of People's Power, in Angola since Wednesday for a four-day visit, headed his country's entourage.
The vice Speaker welcomed the Cuban authorities on the gradual implementation of reforms since the last congress of the Communist Party to ensure the recovery and economic development focussed on cutting imports and increasing exports.
The conclusion of the talks scheduled for Monday will be marked by the signing of memorandum of understanding, aimed at strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation at all levels between the two governments and peoples.
