Angola: Minister Unveils Cuito Cuanavale Airport

Cuito Cuanavale — The airport of Cuito Cuanavale in Kuando Kubango, was opened Friday, by the Transport minister, Augusto da Silva Tomás, under the programme of construction and modernisation of port infrastructure, airport and railway underway in the country.

Called "March 23" in homage to the heroes fallen and the famous battle of Cuito Cuanavale, the airport has 2,740 metres long and 30 lanes wide.

The works also included the construction and complete repair of other areas such as the path of movement to the apron, loading and unloading terminals, among other infrastructure.

The airport of Cuito Cuanavale is located at 189 kilometres east off the capital city, Menongue.
