Nigeria: 'Power Problem Will Persist If...'

Deputy president of the National Electricity Employees Union, Comrade Joe Ajaero, has said that power outage in Nigeria will persist even if the Federal Government continues to pump money into the sector.

Speaking in Calabar yesterday, Ajaero, who is also the general secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, said except corruption is eradicated the country will continue to experience epileptic power supply. "Except corruption is eliminated in the power sector, we will not have steady power supply in this country.

The power problem is not that of funding, but management. I know how much money the Obasanjo's era pumped into the sector, and that amount should have generated more than 8000 megawatts.
