West Africa: Angolan Delegation At Conference On Humanitarian Aid in Sahel Region

Geneva — Angola attended last Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, the Conference of the African Group on the humanitarian situation in the Sahel, after having made an urgent appeal to the international community to the region hit by a severe food crisis.

The Permanent Representative of Angola at the UN and International Organizations, Ambassador Apolinario Correia, attended the conference.

The event is an initiative of the African Group in Geneva which discussed the situation of about 18.7 million people who suffer the consequences of the disastrous humanitarian crisis in the region.

In his speech, the ambassador Jean Marie Ehouzou considered alarming the humanitarian situation in the Sahel region, aggravated by the drought recorded in the region and the climate of insecurity caused by terrorists and separatists groups.

Attended the meeting representatives of the government, UN and NGOs International agencies, among others, who responded to the appeal launched by the African Group in Geneva.
