Kenya: Grenade Safely Detonated in Nakuru

Bomb experts from the Kenya Military Academy and officers from the Central police station on Sunday detonated a grenade buried in Koleni area near Nakuru town. Police said the grenade may have come from a military training camp or an area with munitions.

Nakuru Police boss Johnson Ipara said the grenade might have been part of a scrap metal consignment sold to a local dealer who buried it near Gilani estate. "The grenade was discovered by a metal dealer who seemed not to know what it was but then considered it unfit for sell.He then buried it.It is one of the grenades which has been in place for five years now," said the area police boss Johnston Ipara.
