Carthage — Republican Party Secretary-General Maya Jribi said, in a statement to the press after her meeting, on Monday, with President of the Republic Moncef Marzouki, that she drew his attention to the fact that there was "a need for the Troika to admit that there is a real political crisis, as a result of the interruption of relations between its members, as well as the security trouble and social tension in the country."
She went on saying that she called for "avoiding self-retrenchment, for true analysis of the situation and looking for radical and adequate solutions," explaining that the path chosen by the governing parties does not help "to achieve the country's revival, neither politically nor socially, which dictates that this option be reviewed," she argued.
Besides, the Republican Party general-secretary voiced satisfaction at the President of the Republic's initiative to hold meetings with the different political players, to vitalise consultation and dialogue on means that would help overcome the critical situation the country is going through and ensure success of the transition process.
Besides, she underlined that the meeting with the President of the Republic had been an occasion to discuss her proposal to form "a government of national salvation that would be made up of competences whose number would limited" so that the political actors could, according to her, devote themselves entirely "to penning the constitution and preparing the next elections."
Mrs. Maya Jribi, who was accompanied by the Republican Party executive bureau chairman Yassine Brahim, asserted that the President of the Republic stressed "his attachment to the principles of human rights and his opposition to the extradition of Libya's former prime minister Baghdadi Mahmoudi."
