Nigeria: Health Insurance Should Be Made Mandatory

The Federal Government needs to make a policy that will make health insurance mandatory for all Nigerians as an attempt to improve its health indices.

The advice was the high point of a communiqué issued by Premier Medicaid International (PMI) at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held recently at The Hypertension Clinic, Ibadan. The communiqué, signed by the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the PMI, ,Dr Kayode Obembe, urged both the executive and the National Assembly to take the bold step to enact a law to make organized employers of labour outside government provide health insurance for their workers.
