Basse — The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) in collaboration with the Regional Disaster Management Committee (RDMC) of the Upper River Region over the weekend conducted a day-long sensitisation training for URR District Disaster Management Structure on the assessment tools developed recently by the NDMA.
Speaking at the event held at the regional disaster office, the disaster coordinator for URR, Mawdo Amadou Jallow explained that the tools that have just been developed by the NDMA will be used when collecting data in disaster strike areas. He pointed out that the training would avail the participants the opportunity to know about the tools with a view to enable them respond to any disaster. "We are here equipping our district disaster structure on the use and application of the forms," he stated.
On his part, the councilor of Misira Ward in Sandu District, Ganna Camara, described the introduction of the tools as timely, saying the initiative will enhance efficiency and makes the work less cumbersome. He commended the NDMA for their response to disaster victims in the region, while reaffirming their commitment to adopting the tools.
