Nigeria: Military Pensioners Seek Salary Review

Kano — Retired military officers have called on the National Assembly to ensure that 2012/2013 budget is captured in such a way that the Military Pensions Board will be able to pay the consolidated Armed Forces salary structure which has been due to them since 2010.

The call was made yesterday in Kano by the Public Relations Officer of Retired Army, Navy and Air force Officers club (RANAO), Kano State chapter, retired Captain Yusuf Abdulmalik. Abdulmalik said for the past two years, retired army officers have not been paid the consolidated salary structure, but that serving officers have been enjoying same. He lamented that despite directives by President Goodluck Jonathan that harmonization of pension be done concurrently with salary review of officers in active service, retired officers are yet to benefit from the review.
