Uganda: Mbabazi Was Not Asked to Leave Meeting - Minister

The State Minister for Luwero Triangle, Rose Namayanja, has dismissed as false media reports that she attended a meeting where President Yoweri Museveni asked the Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi to leave.

Responding to reports published in a city tabloid, Namayanja said the alleged meetings were a complete concoction.

"None of the two meetings they are talking about have ever taken place. I have not had a meeting with MPs and the meeting with the President also never took place," Namayanja, who is also the acting minister for general duties, said.

It was claimed that Namayanja attended the Presidential meeting in her capacity as acting general duties minister.

The reports purported that while in a meeting with a group of MPs, Namayanja allegedly narrated how the Prime Minister was embarrassingly asked by the President to leave a meeting.

The President purportedly was meeting investors and that in attendance were Namayanja and energy minister Irene Muloni. She also dismissed the reports as falsehoods.
