The Central Bank of Kenya has authorized the Bank of China to open a representative office in Kenya, its first in East Africa, to manage its regional products and services.
The bank owned by a Chinese Sovereign Wealth Fund, which holds majority of its equity has offices in South Africa and Zambia. Through the representative office in Kenya, Bank of China seeks to explore potential business opportunities in the country with a view to establish long-term presence in Kenya and explore opportunities in the wider East African region.
