Egypt-Saudi Arabia Power Linkage Starts

Electricity and Energy Minister Hassan Younis said on Wednesday 4/7/2012 Egypt-Saudi Arabia power linkage project has already started, adding technical and economic feasibility studies to exchange power energy of 3000 megawatt capacity were conducted.

Arab electricity experts held their meetings in the Cairo-based Arab League (AL) on Wednesday to discuss means of implementing an all-out Arab power linkage project.

The meetings are held under the chairmanship of Egypt in its capacity as the chairman of the Executive Office of the Arab Electricity Ministerial Council.

The two-day meetings will take up the implementation of the project in light of a study that was compiled by the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Studies, said Assistant AL Secretary General for Economic Affairs, Mohammed bin Ibrahim al-Twijry.
