Egypt: Aboul Fotouh's Campaign Initiates New Party

Campaign of ex-presidential contender Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh has officially announced the decision to initiate a new political party under the name of Masr Al-Qaweya (Strong Egypt).

"The philosophy of the Masr Al-Qaweya Party will revolve around the people - considering them the target who the state wishes to provide with safety while protecting their dignity and humanity through full justice, without discrimination, be it social, geographic, economic, religious or political", the campaign said in a statement today as reported by the Middle East News Agency.

Aboul Fotouh was suspended from the Muslim Brotherhood for defying them by running for presidency. He came in fourth place in the first round of Egypt's presidential election that brought the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Mursi to power.

The statement stressed on the importance of protecting public and personal freedoms.
