Tunisia: Will to Strengthen Tunisian-Thai Co-Operation

Tunis — Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Hedi ben Abbes commended, when receiving on Friday Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Jullapon Nosrichai, Thailand's support to the Tunisian Revolution, highlighting the importance granted by post-revolutionary Tunisia to energising partnership relations with the southeastern Asian states.

According to a Foreign Ministry's communiqué, the talk was an occasion to discuss Tunisia's democratic transition and the reforms already carried out.

The two sides examined, during a working session, their bilateral co-operation and means to develop it through intensification of visits between the two countries' officials and identification of new partnership opportunities, notably in the fields of agriculture, trade, tourism and exchange of expertise.

Emphasis was placed on the need to develop the framework regulating the two countries's relations by signing conventions related to double taxation and encouragement of investments, in addition to the creation of a bilateral co-operation joint committee.

The Thai Deputy Foreign Minister is presently on a working visit in Tunisia, the first in five years of a Thai government official, the same communiqué points out.
