Liberia: CDC Fears 2014 By-Elections

Liberia's main opposition party, Congress for Democratic Change is apprehensive about electoral fraud and the lack of transparency, ahead of the 2014 senatorial by- election and the 2017 general and presidential elections.

George Oppong Weah, the CDC political leader expressed these concerns when he spoke with reporters during a consultative forum held with several political parties, including the governing Unity Party over the weekend on finding a way to avoiding suspicion of fraud and how political parties can become part of the entire electoral process so that results announced by the National Election Commission (NEC) in any electioneering period is accepted as well as a reform of the country's electoral laws.
