Zambia: Show Round-UP - Zambia Sugar 'Sweetest' At South Show

ZAMBIA Sugar Plc has emerged as the Best Overall Exhibitor at the just-ended sixth Southern Tourism, Agricultural and Commercial Show Co-operative Society (STACCS) in Livingstone.

The Best Interpretation of the Show Theme went to Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB) while the Chairman's Award for consistency in participation and sponsorship of STACCS went to Indo-Zambia Bank.

Siavonga District Tourism and Business Association won the Chairman's Award for the best application of the show theme.

Winners of this year's provincial event were announced in Livingstone yesterday at the show grounds.

Itezhi-Tezhi District won the Chairman's award for most improved and innovative productivity participant while the Chairman's Award for sponsorship of entertainment in the main arena went to Airtel Zambia.

Choma, Gwembe and Mazabuka districts won the agriculture productivity awards while no individual farmer won an award.

In the agricultural input supplies category, MRI Agro Zambia Limited, Pioneer Dupont Zambia Limited and Pannar Seed Zambia Limited won the awards.

ZTB came first in the tourism category.

Sun International Zambia Limited and Bushtracks Africa came second and third in that order.

In the banking, insurance and financial services category, Finance Bank came first while Barclays Bank Zambia and Zambia State Insurance Corporation (ZSIC) came second and third, respectively.

Under the manufacturing category, Zambia Sugar came first and was followed by National Milling Corporation Limited and Musanza Breweries Limited.

Airtel Zambia came first in the mobile service providers' category and was followed by MTN Zambia.

In the general trading category, Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation came first, followed by Siavonga District Tourism and Business Association and Zambezi FM Radio, respectively.

Zesco came first in the utility companies category and was followed by Southern Water and Sewerage Company and Zambia Telecommunications Company.

In the Non-Governmental Organisations category, Response Network came first while Water and Sanitation Association of Zambia and Zambia National Farmers Union Choma, as well as Kalomo Dairy Farmers Association, came second and third, respectively.

In the co-operatives category, Kazungula District Agriculture Co-operative Society came first.

Chilizyo Multi-purpose Co-operative Society of Kazungula came second while Tuchebane Youth Club of Kalomo came third.

The Ministry of Education, Auditor General's Office and Ministry of Lands department of forestry won the Government institutions category.

In the tertiary training and research institutions, Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies came first while Zambia Institute for Animal Health Mazabuka and National Artificial Insemination Services Mazabuka came second and third, respectively.

The theme for this year's show was 'Kumusanza: economic prosperity through harnessing diverse potential'.
