Ghana: 31st Movement is NDP Backbone

Even though the President of the 31st December Women's Movement, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has not officially associated herself with the newly-formed National Democratic Party (NDP), the interim Chairman of the party, Dr. Josiah Nii Armah Aryeh, has announced that the once powerful and dreaded women's grouping during Mr. Rawlings' revolutionary days, would be the backbone of the new party.

The NDP submitted its particulars to the Electoral Commission (EC) late last week to be registered as a political party to contest the December presidential and parliamentary elections. The EC is now going to examine the documents submitted by the founders of the party, especially its red, yellow and black colours, to see if it does not conflict with those already registered by some of the political parties.
