Ghana: Library, Computer Lab for Konongo School

The Chief Executive officer of the First Klass Hospital at Konongo in the Asante Akim North Municipality, Dr. Steve Ojbordjor, has constructed a library and computer laboratory for a local government school in the Konongo Zongo community.

The objective is to help the students cultivate the reading habit, which, he observed, was grossly missing in the Ghanaian education system.

Dr. Ojbordjor said the computer laboratory and library project were in response to a request by the school authorities.

He noted that the study of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in schools was the order of the day, and urged parents to be serious with the education of their wards, since this was the best legacy they could bequeath them.

He said he was aware that the Zongos were knowledgeable communities and endowed with brilliant people, and therefore, a force to reckon with.

The medical doctor also noted that the project would discourage the youth from indulging in criminal activities.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Owusu-Manu, said the Primary school was established in 1952, with the Junior High School opening in 2006, and were in need of infrastructure, and thanked Dr. Ojbordjor for the support.

Mr. Owusu-Manu also called on other stakeholders to come to their aid and stock the computer lab and library with computers and the required books.
