The Kenya Girl Guide Association is one of the oldest organisations that girls and young women have been able to take part in since it was started in 1920. Its aim was to help the members develop to their full potential as responsible citizens of the world. Some of Kenya's most well known women who were Girl Guides are Lady Justice Njoki Ndung'u, Honorine Kiplagat, Muthoni Likimani, and even the first lady Lucy Kibaki.
Last weekend guests from across the region gathered at the Kenya Girl Guide Association offices at the Arboretum in Nairobi for a luncheon to raise funds to build a campsite for girls guides at Kimalel, Baringo. The campsite was allocated to the Girl Guides in 1991 by the Baringo county council to help facilitate camping and training activities for all guides countrywide and internationally.
