Kenya: Two More for Eldoret Governor

THE race for Uasin Gishu county governor has intensified after a Moi University don Julius Kibett Bitok expressed interest in the seat. Dr Bitok, who is a finance and banking expert, said he will vie for the seat because he believes he has the capacity to lead the county to greater success. "I have the necessary qualifications and vision to head this county," he said.

Educationist Kenneth Kebenei Misoi has also declared interest in the seat. Both Misoi and Bitok are from Eldoret South constituency. Bitok said Uasin Gishu county has massive resources but if elected if he will focus on improving agriculture, education, infrastructure and water services.

He said the Sh4 billion to be given to the county for development is inadequate but resources in the county will help raise more revenue. "We also have greater potential in tourism and sports. The county leadership will have to come up with a master plan on how to tap this potential," Bitok said.
