Kenya: Sandhu Starts Favourite As Royal Nairobi Hosts Dasani Gala

After spending the last two weekends at the coast, the Dasani Golf Gala series moves to the Royal Nairobi today as more teams seek to make the cut for the Grand Finale. Jay Sandhu, Sandhu the most accomplished amateur from Royal, will be the man to watch. Playing off scratch handicap, Sandhu, who has since declined offers to turn professional, tees off from the first tee at 8.00am, alongside-L. Pallan, Z. Miwa and D. Azevedo.

First to tee off at 7.28am will be the team of Brian D'souza, Jimmy Wahome, Francis Mwaura and Fr. Munene. They will be followed by the quartet of Nathan Kalumbu, Y. Getachew and guests Kibuchi Kimani and Ben Johnson. The Royal teams will be fighting to fill the two slots allocated to each club.

According to one of the organisers, Charan Thethy, golfers are in spirits at the club after the draw was conducted on Wednesday.

Charan said the course at Royal is in superb condition and should play a little bit long.

"Being a big event, we have set up the course to be a little bit tough. The roughs are a little longer given the recent rains which pounded Nairobi," said Charan, who is a professional, based at Royal.
