Nigeria: UN Appoints Brown Special Envoy On Global Education

The Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon has appointed former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown as the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education.

In a statement announcing the appointment, Ki-Moon credited the appointment of Brown on his "impressive commitment to education as a fundamental right of every child", adding that he has demonstrated "unquestionable passion advocating extensively with world leaders, civil society, and the business community to keep the promise of quality education for all by 2015".
