Angola: Ntyamba Sport Promotes Athletics Festival

Lubango — About four hundred children in the southern Huila Province's municipalities of Lubango, Humpata and Chibia will participate on Saturday in an athletics festival promoted by Ntyamba Sport association, in the ambit of the programme dubbed "renascer atletismo", aimed at boosting this sport in the province.

Speaking to the press, the president of the association, João Ntyamba, said that the competition is to be attended by children aged between 10 and 18, in both sexes, in the categories of 50, 80 and 100 metres, spear throwing, cross country, long and triple jumps.

The festival, that will happen in Tundavala Stadium, will be monitored by 15 technicians linked to Ntyamba Sport.

João Ntyamba, 44, and a former international athlete, said that the event is also intended to find and promote new talents, as well as to stimulate in children the liking for athletics.
