Egypt Ready to Support Development in Post-Conflict African Countries

Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr on Friday 13/07/2012 said Egypt is ready to support the African Union in boosting reconstruction and development projects in post-conflict African countries.

That will be based on national priorities of these countries in a way to prevent them from being dragged into wars, Amr said, addressing a ministerial meeting that marks the launch of the African Solidarity Initiative in support of post-conflict reconstruction and development in Africa.

Amr said merging former rebels and fighters into state institutions can not take place without achieving social and economic development.

Amr asserted the need for boosting ties between African countries and UN bodies and international donors. He said the African Union initiative will boost solidarity among African countries.
