Liberia: President Sirleaf Meets Representatives of African Civil Society Leaders With Focus On MDGs and Post-2015 Development Framework

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf met on Thursday with leaders of African Civil Society Organizations who offered their support in establishing and managing a secretariat to serve as a clearinghouse and channel for African positions on the post-2015 agenda. The group also sought the President's support in facilitating the convening of a pan-African conference in Monrovia, in early September, of civil society organizations involved in the fight against poverty, women's and people's rights, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the post-2015 agenda.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the delegation visited Monrovia to present these requests to the Liberian President, ahead of their trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in a civil society colloquium on the margins of the 19th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union.
