Gambian football clubs have come together to form a Gambia Football League Clubs Association (GFLCA) that is established to represent and promote the interest and welfare of leagues clubs and its members.
In a press release sent to Observer Sports Desk and signed by its acting Secretary General Ebou Faye, the League Clubs Association aims to positively promote the game of Association football in partnership with The Gambia Football Association while they are also fully committed to the principles of the equality of opportunity to its members, thus no member of the League Clubs Association will receive less favourable treatment than any other.
It added that the league clubs association will ensure that there is open access for all those who wish to participate in the activities of the league clubs association in whatever capacity and that they are treated fairly while the club associaton will also recognise its obligations not to descriminate any member club and will regard descrimination by any league club association member, participant as grounds for disciplinary action under the relevant league clubs association.
The release further stated that the league clubs association recognises to safeguard the responsibilities and welfare of all its members and thus will aim to provide good quality football in a safe environment by adopting the procedures and working practices of the Gambia Football Association's Welfare Policy (pending it is available) for the League Clubs.
The League Clubs Association shall consist of all the league clubs of the GFA and club representative to the League Club Association must be an Executive Member of the league Club. In accepting membership, members agree to abide by the Constitution of the League Clubs Association and the decisions of the League Clubs Executive/ Management Committee. All member clubs whose affiliation seizes with the GFA shall lose its membership with the League Clubs Association.
