Egypt: Tantawi - National Security Sacred Duty the Army Pledged to Shoulder

Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), said that the protection of Egypt's national security is a sacred duty the army pledged to shoulder.

Tantawi made the remarks while attending a ceremony for handing over the Command of the Northern Military Zone from Major General Nabil Mohamed Fahmi to Major General Gamal Mohamed Shehata.

He hailed the distinguished performance of soldiers of the Northern Military Zone and advised them to continue serious training.

Major General Nabil Mohamed Fahmi has been appointed head of the Armed Forces' Inspection Department.
