Krora — The inhabitants of Krora sub-zone are engaged in popular soil and water conservation activities with a view to enhancing agricultural production and facilitating transportation. They indicated that the task involves construction of a dirt road and underground water catchments, in addition to building terraces and water catchment walls.
Mr. Yasin Hamd, Administrator of Fah and Shakat Administrative area, and Mr. Saleh Mohammed Ali, inhabitant of Mahmime, pointed out that the undertaking aims at enriching the area's underground water, besides overcoming transport barriers.
Mr. Idris Mohammed-Ali from Ela-Tsaeda Administrative area and Mr. Osman Idris, resident of Mahmime semi-urban center, voiced conviction that the undertaking would help promote food security in the area, and that they would step up endeavors in this regard.
Mr. Adem Saleh, head of the Agriculture Ministry's branch in Krora sub-zone, stated that a total of 9 latent micro-dams have already been built in the Administrative areas of Aflag, Tebieh, Mahmime, Hishkib and Ela-Tsaeda through mobilizing 6,000 manpower. He further lauded the active popular participation demonstrated in the process.
