Tunis — Premier Hamadi Jebali and Qatar's Crown Emir Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad al-Thani kick-started, on Monday, achievement of the second part the Omar el-Mokhtar housing project in the Sijoumi district, Tunis.
The second part of the project, which stretches over an eight-hectare area, is funded by Qatar at 45 million Tunisian dinars (MTD).
The housing project, to be finished off by 2013, is made up of 700 low-income homes, several public facilities, particularly a kindergarten, a youth centre, an art centre, a neighbourhood stadium and a park.
"This project is part of a programme announced by the government to build up low-income housing projects," Mr. Jebali told the media, reminding also of the agreements signed Monday with Qatar in the fields of phosphate, construction of low-income housing projects, in the energy field (Skhira-based refinery project) and Tuesday's inauguration of the Diar Qatar tourism project in Tozeur.
