Nigerian Athletics, Table Tennis Teams Enter Games Village

London — The Nigerian athletics and table tennis contingents have moved into the London Olympics Games Village in Stratford, East London, the Chairman of the coordinating committee of Team Nigeria, Alhassan Yakmut disclosed in London yesterday.

In an interview with the Trustsports, Yakmut said wrestling and weight-lifting contingents currently training in Germany would move into the Village on Saturday, while the basketball and other teams would join them on Monday.

Yakmut, who is also Nigeria's Deputy Chief-de-Mission said all the necessary equipments and a medical clinic have been set up at the village, adding that all the rooms allocated to Team Nigeria at Sea Side One have been appropriately labelled.

He stated that all teething problems regarding Team Nigeria in London had been resolved, disclosing that the athletes and Team Nigeria as a whole were in very high spirit ahead of commencement of the games.

"All the athletes are in good shape and we do not have any injuries", he said, and expressed optimism that Team Nigeria would do its best to make the nation proud.
