Nigeria: Tribunal Upholds Kwande's Election

Jos — The National Assembly election petition tribunal, sitting in Jos yesterday, dismissed the petition filed by Hon. Peter Akujah, of the PDP, challenging the return of Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande as winner of the rerun election for the Jos North-Bassa federal constituency seat held last February.

The tribunal upheld the election of Kwande, as returned by INEC, having scored the lawful number of votes. In a five hour judgment delivered by Justice A.A .Nwaige, the tribunal said the petitioner failed to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.
