Nigeria: Court Threatens to Remand Union Leaders in Bauchi

Bauchi — The Principal District Court, 8, presided over by Chief Magistrate Isah Mohammed has threatened to remand the executives of the Bauchi State Association of Secondary School Teachers for refusing to obey court order.

The association embar-ked on indefinite strike due to what they described as the inability of the state government to meet their demands by sacking or transferring the commissioner of education to another ministry. The state's Ministry of Education went to court and obtained a restraining order stopping the association from embarking on strike, but the union leaders said they were served after they embarked on the strike and urged their members to continue.
