Luanda — Even though she is not part of the senior females ladies handball team, the goalkeeper Maria Odeth Tavares is confident about a good and surprising performance of the squad in the London Olympic Games, set for July 27 and August 12, despite the potential of the opponent teams in the first stage of the tournament.
Speaking to ANGOP, the goalkeeper of first division 1º de Agosto team and the national squad in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, stated that the Angolan squad's players are psychologically strong, which also causes them to be very combative.
"When we go to the field it does not matter the adversary. We just do our best. But the opponents do take care when facing Angola. We do not get intimidated by the opponents, we struggle until the end", she stressed.
According to the goalkeeper, Angola is in a difficult group in the London Olympic Games.
Maria Odeth Tavares participated in three Olympic Games (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008), as well as has six participations in world cups, three national titles and six African Nations Cup titles.
